What is Tantric Energy Work?
Tantric energy work is the MAGIC that I bring to my sessions and why working with me is so special and unique. I was first introduced to Tantra 4 years ago, completely by accident, during a self love meditation I found on YouTube. The experience was incredibly powerful and afterwards I felt SO compelled to research more about Tantra.
I dove into research and learned about Tantra as an ancient spiritual path, similar to yoga, in which the primary belief or doctrine is this: “All is divine.” There is nothing that exists that is not divine. There is nothing that exists that is not sacred. Even the things that we (or society) have labeled as bad, as dirty, shameful, wrong, even those things are holy. Even those things are sacred and divine and GODLY.
Traditional Tantrikas worshipped both a male and a female deity, Shiva and Shakti. Shiva represents masculine energy, or yang energy. He is God, higher consciousness, the cosmos, and pure potentiality. He represents everything unmanifest: pure energy, without a form or shape. Shakti represents feminine energy or yin energy. She is Goddess, mother Earth, our body, emotions, and everything manifest. She represents all of creation in form, everything that has ever been created.
Tantra teaches that every living thing exists as a divine dance of these two energies. EVERY BEING, regardless of your gender, sexual expression, or literally any other reason, has BOTH masculine (yang) energy AND feminine (yin) energy. WE ALL HAVE BOTH. One literally cannot exist without the other. Shiva is pure potentiality, pure energy, but without Shakti, has no form, has no manifested creation. Shakti is all of creation, but what would be created without the energy of the cosmos? Indeed, every living creature needs both, and it is the push and pull dynamic, the beautiful divine dance of these energies that creates all of life.
The word “Tantra” is a Sanskrit word meaning “to weave” and tantra can be understood as a practice of weaving our feminine and masculine energies in order to create wholeness and harmony within.
Our masculine energy is our giving energy. This is our going, doing, producing, achieving energy. It’s our logic and structure. It’s our ACTION energy. This is the energy that we are in when we are taking care of our families, organizing the logistics of our lives, and pleasuring a partner (or ourselves). Most of us are familiar with this energy and COMFORTABLE with this energy. Our society has historically (for about 5,000 years) prioritized and rewarded masculine/yang energy and demonized and belittled feminine/yin energy.
Our feminine energy is our receiving energy. This is our resting, existing, celebrating, being energy. It’s our creativity and sensual expression. It’s our FEELING energy, our ability to sense and take in information from our surroundings via our senses. This is the energy we are in when we are at our most relaxed and at ease, like just after a massage. The feeling of being held, loved, and supported by yourself, a partner, or life itself. It’s SURRENDERING to pleasure, and ALLOWING a partner to give while you completely rest in receiving.
Because Tantra recognizes ALL as divine, sex and sexuality are included. In fact, sex is believed to be the most potent form of energy exchange. Our sexual energy IS the energy of creation… and the energies that are created during sex (by yourself or with partners) is incredibly powerful, and when harnessed intentionally, can produce mind-altering, life-changing, soul-cleansing pleasure and bliss. YOU CAN EXPERIENCE A TASTE OF YOUR OWN DIVINITY. And it is a FELT experience.
This is my favorite part of my work, because energy work can be subtle (at first), but once you FEEL it, you have felt it, and that can never be taken away from you. Once you taste your truth, that every single fucking part of you is pure divine energy, the most beautiful blend of yang and yin, you will KNOW this truth. And of course, you may forget again… our society is expertly designed to keep us asleep to this truth and our power… AND once you have felt your unique energy, that indescribable feeling that is YOU, you can come home to that feeling in any moment you choose.
My sessions center around leaning into our feminine/yin energy. We all spend so much time hustling: going, doing, producing, and achieving… that quite frankly, we suck at leaning back and letting the love IN. So during sex, even with a beloved partner, we can often find ourselves unable to fully lean back, surrender, and enjoy the experience being given to us. And even if we are primarily dominant in our relationship dynamics, we still deserve to lean back, rest, and be provided with pleasure. We are worthy of celebration. We are worthy of WORSHIP. And that’s really what I provide in my sessions, *unconditional celebration of your divine sexual energy.*
What does this look like in a session? It can take many forms, but here’s an example to get your imagination going. All of my sessions are a meditative journey. You will be invited to lay down. Depending on your desires and goals, you may be blindfolded or bound at the hands and ankles, you may be clothed or fully naked. I will burn incense or herbs or diffuse essential oils and clear the energy of the space. I will guide us into a meditative state and in clearing your energy channel and preparing to receive. We will connect our energies and I will guide you in giving your energy to me, how it feels to send energy + how to lean back, open your awareness, and RECEIVE energy from me. I will follow the cues from your energy and body, using my intuition and spiritual guidance to move stuck and stagnant energies around and out of your body. This part can be uncomfortable or a little scary if you’ve never experienced energy work before, but I will talk you through how to navigate whatever comes up for you. It is SO WORTH IT, because once your energies are integrated and calm, we are able to literally rewire your subconscious neural pathways and increase your capacity for pleasure. This is where sensual domination is introduced, and I will guide you through how to rest in your erotic energy and allow it to build. I use a lot of praise and affirmations… I will tell you how beautiful you look in your pleasure, how worthy you are of experiencing this, and I’ll guide you in opening up and allowing in even more! And again, depending on your desires and goals, we will play with erotic energy and get insanely curious about how much pleasure you are able to hold and experience.
